A Wish Come True The Deerfield Park District has never had its own gymnasium. And, with hundreds of fitness, exercise, motor development, sports programs and athletic leagues at all time highs in popularity, we finally have an all-encompassing facility that can accommodate the needs and interests of our residents.
This facility will be updated and renovated, and is slated to open to the public in 2009. Located in Lake Cook Plaza, at 455 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield, the complex is conveniently located just west of Waukegan Road. Park Board President Joe Cohen says, “We are thrilled to have had this opportunity come along at this time, as we have been in search of just the right facility for a number of years. The former Multiplex should provide the perfect place for our community to come together to play, to learn and to socialize.” This New Facility Includes the Following:

High on the list of priorities expressed by
residents of Deerfield Park District on the 2003 Community Needs and
Interest Survey was acquiring a gym and having additional walking paths
available. Additionally, our popular Coho Swim Club, highly-ranked in the
state and in the nation, has had increasing numbers of registrants, but
decreasing space and times allowed to practice at area indoor pools.
The Park District had been carefully researching
various options to meet the needs expressed by residents for the past few
years. A golden opportunity arose when the former Multiplex recreation
complex closed and the property became available for purchase. The park
district successfully negotiated the purchase of approximately 99,000 square
feet of space at a cost of $4 million. This figure affords the district far greater space and facilities
than other options explored. Other options would have cost significantly more and provided less space.
