Drain covers at Mitchell & Deerspring Pools NOT on the recall list
RE: Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Pool and Spa Safety Act of 2008

Recent media articles have brought to light a May 26, 2011, U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission recall of swimming pool and spa drain covers that pose a possible entrapment hazard to swimmers. The recall involves as many as one million drain covers throughout the United States that were incorrectly rated to handle a specific flow of water through the cover, which could pose a possible entrapment hazard to swimmers and bathers. Please be advised that pursuant to the Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Pool and Spa Safety Act of 2008, the drain covers in both Deerspring and Mitchell Pools NOT on the recall list.

General Aquatics Information

The Deerfield Park District sells season passes and coupon booklets which are good at both pools. Customers may also pay daily fees which include the use of all amenities. More information on passes, coupons, and daily admissions can be found on the Aquatics page. Also on the Aquatics page you can find the schedule of activities offered at each pool. Swimming lessons are offered during the summer, as well as a number of special events. Locations of each pool can be found here.

Showing of ID Cards

Every patron entering the pool facility must show a valid 2011 pool pass ID card or pay the daily admission fee. This includes non-swimmers.

If, for any reason, a patron doesn't have their pass ID card, a "lookup fee" of $3 per person (max 4 per family) will be charged. The purpose of this fee is to encourage patrons to carry their pass ID card and to minimize inconvenience for other patrons waiting in line. As a courtesy, we will not charge the lookup fee until after June 19.

There will be no exceptions to this policy. Lost ID cards can be replaced for a $5 fee at Jewett Park Community Center during normal business hours.

Mitchell Pool

Mitchell Pool is located at 951 Wilmot Road (and Hazel). It is a "Z" shaped pool ranging in depth from two and one half feet at its shallow end to five feet at its deepest end. The diving bay is 12 feet deep. Children 4 year old and younger will enjoy our zero depth wading pool. During the season you may contact the pool at 847-945-7760.

Mitchell Pool

Deerspring Pool

Deerspring Pool is located at 200 Deerfield Road and underwent renovation in 2006. It is an "L"-shaped Olympic-size pool ranging from three feet to five feet at its deeper end. The diving bay is 11.6 feet deep, with a 1-meter diving board and a new drop slide. Deerspring features include a water slide in the shallow end and a new sprayground and zero-depth wading pool.
